hmmmm that feels right also.
my first experience of manfred's music was an installation of one such composition, from midday until about sunset. the entire time i was there the oboist played not a note.
of course my own sense of timing and listening has slowed down since then (matured ???) ... i would now realize that the space or even "silence" in between were not silences at all. as my friend put it, "there is silence when you're dead !" paraphrasing a part of our discussion prior to the calarts halloween party tailgate
