From the Heart...

The news that Ed Harris is portraying the maestro in the forthcoming Copying Beethoven is welcome indeed, but the news that the story centers on (Everybody now!) the writing of the Ninth Symphony and a waifish female (of course) copyist is not. Harris put his finger on it in his query to the screenwriter, "Beethoven had a pretty interesting life, just historically, why are you introducing this other character?"

His response?

"I had to think of a way for him to express himself about what he was doing, and what he was thinking about, what music meant to him, etc. I had to give him a voice, and I felt this was a device that could work."

Pity that they couldn't focus on the concomitant writing of the 5th & 6th or the sublime Missa Solemnis:

...May it go to the heart

I. Kyrie

II. Gloria
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Quit tollis peccata mundi
Quoniam tu solus Sanctus
III. Credo
Credo in unum Deum
Et incarnatus est
Et resurrexit tertia die
IV. Sanctus
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus
Benedictus qui venit
V. Agnus Dei
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi
Dona nobis pacem

Hi There,

Could you please tell me whether these mp3 Files that you have posted on your Blog have anything to do with "Missa Papae Marcelli" by Palestrina or is this by someone else ?

Could you also tell me where I could get the complete set of mp3's on "Missa Papae Marcelli" by Palestrina.

Thanks in advance

What's posted is Beethoven's Missa Solemnis.

Palestrina is a composer from the Renaissance.

Dear Friend,

Many Thanks.

I am looking for "The Missa Papae Marcelli" in mp3 format by Palestrina and I also noticed that the entire list from Kyrie to Agnus Dei was on your Blog at this Link -- http://www.analogartsensemble.net/2006/05/favorite-musical-legends.html for the 16th of May.

Whenever, I click on this Link I am getting a error message.

Is there any chance I can get those mp3 files, if I give you my email address.

I am a Catholic from India, and I have been listening to Sacred Choral Music from the age of 8, but unfortunately this genre of music is not available in India as there is no demand for it at all.

I learnt the violin at the age of 10.

Let me know.

Thanks.

Thanks

Thanks for posting these; they're gorgeous.

I think you misspelled the name of the title of track four. It should start with either Quis or Qui, but not Quit.
