160 kbps apparently
ain't enough for some Radiohead fans. The compression rate might be more scandalous if the album were better.
In Rainbows ranks slightly above
Pablo Honey as an album, only because it has better songs (
"All I Need",
"Reckoner"), though none of them are
classics.
What's with all of Thom's out of tune warbling? And the synths sound like presets circa 1987. If last week's release really was a tease for a physical CD, Radiohead will be handing them out for free at their gigs for decades to come.

Are you serious? You have a problem with Thom's out of tune warbling? Who have you been listening to for fifteen years when you thought you were listening to Radiohead?
You have strange expectations when it comes to a new Radiohead album. Your failure to recognize classic tracks (videotape, nude) sends your credibility through the floor.
I'm about as big a Radiohead fan as there is. And I figured someone would take the bait on the singing comment.
'What's with all the...' was my coy way of saying that, unlike on their best albums, Thom seems to have been given the green light to yodel away on this album. He sounds like Chris Martin at a Radiohead karaoke party.
Radiohead's best work is all about restraint. The guitars on 'Kid A' were so subtle that most critics thought they weren't even there. Thom's keening falsetto was usually the model of restraint, but on this new album, restraint went out the window.
This album is a clunker, friend.
You should practice some restraint. You certainly have lost all credibility within the music world. Nice work shooting yourself in the foot. Saying a genius album is sub-par is a good way of getting yourself taken as a joke. Why don't you give it a couple of months and submit a retraction. That would serve you good.
Genius album? I've demonstrated why I feel it's a clunker, and I'd love to hear why you think it's a genius album. To my ear, they've only released two genius albums: OK Computer and Kid A.
The Bends and Hail to the Thief are first-rate.
The rest are okay. I like listening to them, but I can't seriously argue that they are anything but average (or below) albums.
