Found Sound Source Revealed

A copy of SPUTNiK's second album, Shine On, is on its way to a reader in California who correctly guessed that the source of our found sound was escalators.

The badly weather-beaten pair outside of Union Station in DC, to be exact:

'Whales humping' and 'malfunctioning toasters' were just some of the guesses we got for our Found Sound Challenge. No one's guessed correctly; so SPUTNiK's sophomore album, Shine On..., is still up for grabs.

And to make things easier, we've given you more of the found sound to guess at in this 50-second clip. Plus, we'll say that the recording was made by echo somewhere between New York and Atlanta. So, keep those guesses coming by email or comment.
