JULIEN BENICHOU , Conductor

Currently the music director of the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra and assistant conductor of the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra, Julien also conducts the Pre-College Chamber Orchestra at Juilliard, and will make appearances this season with the Annapolis & Londontowne Symphonies.

He also founded and directed the Montpelier Young Orchestral Ensemble in France. Julien has served as an assistant conductor with the Peabody Singers, Baltimore Opera, Skokie Symphony Orchestra, Columbia Orchestra and associate conductor of the Hot Springs Music Festival in Arkansas.

Having earned degrees at Northwestern and the Peabody Conservatory, he is also the recipient of the Prix de la Sacem in musical analysis and has recorded the world premiere of Rudolf Hakem's works for Centaur Records.
